PRiSM conceptualized M – Day with the aim of creating a 24 hour marketing fest that would test an array of quintessential marketing skills among the participants. M – Day was the first of its kind in that ten teams were put though four events in a span of a day and the winner amongst them were awarded the title of ‘Marketing Champions of IIM Lucknow’. M – Day was sponsored by YOKO sizzlers and prizes worth 15,000/- were given out to the winners in various events of M – Day.
The event saw overwhelming response and eighty teams of four registered for the event. The first 40 teams were selected on a first-come-first serve basis to participate in the elimination round. The elimination round was a simulation game designed to test the strategic thinking and understanding of market dynamics.
Post this event, 10 teams were selected based on the simulation game scores. These teams were given a case study which focused on converting YOKO sizzlers, a popular fine dining restaurant in Lucknow, to a lounge. The teams were expected to come up with innovative and feasible ideas overnight and submit the presentation in the morning. Prof.Ram Manohar Vikas and the management of YOKO judged the participants who were commended for their creativity. The teams were undoubtedly thrilled that their recommendations would be implemented by YOKO.
The next event tested the salesmanship abilities of the teams. It was an innovative event that combined product idea generation and sales pitch. The teams were paired in groups and debated with each other. The event was judged by Prof. Anirban Chakraborthy. The teams were also pitted against each other in a branding event where they had to market themselves by designing a poster with the team’s profile. The posters were uploaded on the PRiSM Facebook page and winners were decided based on the number of likes that the posters garnered. The posters were witty as well as funny and captured the attention of students on Facebook.
After 24 gruelling hours of back-to-back events which were both fun and enriching, Shohita Chowdhry, Ameya Ashirwad, Gautam Girme and Kiran Jagtap emerged as the ‘Marketing Champions of IIM Lucknow’ and they walked away with prizes worth INR 7000/-.
